On May the 1st, the two-day Charlotte Bühler symposium, with the title "New insights into current attachment research", was concluded with the "Meet the Scientist" sessions. The event was organized by the Department of Developmental Psychology of our faculty within the framework of the 650th anniversary celebrations of the University Vienna. The anniversary year of the University of Vienna was taken as an occasion to frame the current Viennese attachment research in the international research context and to present this as a birthday present to the renowned attachment researcher, Klaus Grossmann.

A representative selection of internationally renowned attachment researchers with Miriam Steele & Howard Steele (New York/USA), Isabelle Soares (Braga/Portugal), Avi Sagi-Schwarz (Haifa/Isreal), Lieselotte Ahnert (Vienna/Austria); Peter Zimmermann, Fabienne Becker-Stoll, Gottfried Spangler, Hermann Scheuerer-English & Gerhard Suess, Wuppertal to Munich/Germany attended. More than 100 guests from Germany, Switzerland and Austria had registered to attend the presentations together with more than 100 psychology students from Vienna in the baroque conference room of the Old Town Hall. Above all, the young Viennese researchers should be involved in the current debates of this central research area of the developmental psychology. A special highlight was the appearance of the Federal Minister, Dr. Sophie Karmasin, who visited the symposium on the last afternoon with a passionate greeting.
